Gervonta Davis was taken into custody after a Florida Warrant

TMZ and USA Today are reporting that Miami police took Gervonta “Tank” Davis into custody Tuesday, two weeks after a warrant was issued in Florida.

Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) faces charges of criminal trespass, battery, and attempted kidnapping for an incident involving former partner Courtney Rossel, which was also filed in court in October. The situation already has consequences outside the courtroom. Davis’ planned showdown against Jake Paul was canceled, and the WBA demoted him from lightweight champion to “retired champion” while the ban remained in effect.

In the ring, Davis’ movement has slowed down just as much. He has had one fight in the past 19 months, an argument with Lamont Roach Jr. in March that drew criticism when Davis took a knee and later broke rules so his corner could wipe the grease from his eyes. The first rumor of a reunion was not far off and slowly faded away.
