A man with a personal connection to the R&B singer D4vd has been arrested after failing to appear in court as a witness in the ongoing case surrounding the mysterious death of a teenage girl.
Neo Langston was arrested on an out-of-state warrant on Thursday, January 22. He was initially booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center in Helena, Montana, and later transferred to the LAPD, according to court records obtained by San Francisco Chronicle.
How Us Weekly previously reported, a teenage girl named Celeste Rivas disappeared in April 2024. His case went cold for a while until his decomposing body was found in the trunk of a car registered to D4vd, 20 — real name. David Anthony Burke — on September 8, 2025. One day before his body was discovered, he would have turned 15.
At the time, the singer’s spokesperson said that D4vd “had been informed of what happened and although he is still on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
Later that month, Celeste’s mother said her daughter had a boyfriend named David before she disappeared. According to his interview with TMZthe singer and the teenager also had matching tattoos on their fingers that read “Shhhh.” While some have theorized that the tattoo could be related to a possible illicit relationship, the meaning behind it is unclear as several celebrities have popularized similar ink.
On September 23, Celeste’s body was released to her family and more information was released about her death.
“We know that the Tesla had been parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks,” said LAPD Capt. and Cmdr. Scottish M. Williams he said people at that time. “Therefore, it is highly likely that Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been dead for several weeks before her body was discovered.”

“As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. Any funds you can donate are greatly appreciated,” the fundraiser summary reads.
As of this post, they received over $24,000 in donations.
D4vd was not officially named a suspect in this case until November 2025.
That same month, the LAPD released a statement trying to “dispel some misinformation” about the case that was circulating online, including that his body was not “frozen” or “beheaded.”
“We have evidence that D4vd traveled to the Santa Barbara area sometime during the spring of 2025. The reason for this travel is still under investigation and we have not drawn any conclusions at this time about the relevance of the travel to this case,” the statement continued.
The LAPD also explained that the court order to seal the records of the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s investigation into the death of Celeste Rivas “was sought only to ensure that detectives from the Homicide and Robbery Division learned important information about her death from the media and the public” and not to “undermine transparency.”
D4vd has not been arrested in connection with the case.
