A Russian missile attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro has killed four people and wounded 40, authorities said.
Unconfirmed reports say that a ballistic missile was used in the strike, which took place on Monday morning.
Videos shared online showed a large explosion on the side of a motorway, and local media said an office building, cars and shops were hit.
DNIPRO, which is around 100km (62 miles) from the front line, has been under constant Russian attack since the start of the Full-scale Insitor in Moscow in February 2022.
The attack came a day before Special Envice Steve Witkoff was due to meet President Vladimir Putin in Moscow for the end of the war in Ukraine. WitKoff has visited the Russian president several times this year, but never in Kyiv.
On Sunday, a delegation of Ukraine met with the Secretary of State of Marcoff, US Marco Rubio and Doned Kusner, in Florida.
Zelensky said on Monday that the talks were “very important” but that there were some “tough issues” that were “productive” but that there was “more work to do”.
The meeting in Florida is the latest step in weeks of intense “shuttle diplomacy” that has seen the delegations of Ukraine and Russia separate to join a peace plan.
Despite these efforts, however, significant differences remain between the positions of Moscow and Kyiv.
Russia has refused to back down from its core demands for Ukraine to withdraw from areas in the Donbas Region it holds, which Kyiv has insisted it will not do.
“If they don’t back down, we will achieve it with strong arms,” Vladimir Putin said. In response, Zelensky said that Russia “scorned” efforts “to end the war”.
Matters surrounding Ukraine’s future security are also a source of contention. Kyiv and its European partners want to provide security guarantees – such as NATO membership – that will protect it from being attacked again.
But Russia opposed it and Donald Trump also ordered to allow Ukraine to join the military alliance.
Meanwhile, Volandymr Zelensky arrived in Paris at the Support Rally from French President Emmanuel Macron, and will go to Ireland on Tuesday.
In recent weeks, concern has been growing in Kyiv and among Europeans that the US is more amenable to Russia’s demands than Ukraine’s.
Zelensky has also been politically weakened at home by a corruption scandal. His chief of staff Andriy Yermak, who also led the Ukrainian delegation to the peace talks, resigned on Friday after anti-corruption investigators raided his home – Even if he is not accused of wrongdoing. Two cabinet ministers were also fired.
On Sunday Trump told Air Force one reporters that Ukraine has “some difficult little problems”, referring to the scandal, and repeated his view that Russia wants Russia and Ukraine to end the war.
Tens of thousands of soldiers have been killed or wounded, as well as thousands of civilians, and at least seven million people have become refugees, outside of Russia which was invaded on 24 February 2022.
The conflict between the two Soviet States repeated in 2014 the Pro-Russian PRO-Russian in Ukraine responded to the annexation of the uprising in UNTERNATE UKRAINE.
