Thousands crowded the giant of nine Sambadrome watching the top 12 schools in the samba title for the title of the year.
Beija-Flor was crowned winner on Wednesday for the 15th time, narrowly beaten the second placed Grande Rio.
It was a compliment to its late director, Luiz Fernando Ribeiro do Carmo, who was better known as Laíla, who died in June 2021 with Covid-19.
While the main theme of Beija-Flor’s Parade is a tribute to its late director, it also shows the floats with pyrotechnic shows and dancers dressed as demons.

One of the main 12 schools of Samba competing for the title is paraíso do Tuiuti, whose dancers are parading in feather.
