British fitness influencer Megan Kirkland has revealed that she suffered a pregnancy loss.
“We recently found out that a new little human was joining our family and quickly, the life we had begun to envision as a 4-year-old disappeared,” Meggan, 29, wrote. Instagram on Tuesday, February 17, referring to husband Niall Kirkland. “Like a shooting star, you shot into our world and almost as quickly, you lost your sight.”
She continued: “I’ve never heard much about early loss/chemical pregnancies. I don’t love the term chemical because it almost makes it seem less ‘real’, which it’s not. That feeling of euphoria, your world changing, the endless possibilities of where life is about to go, who you’re going to meet, when you first see that positive test, won’t be possible.”
A chemical pregnancy, according to the Cleveland Clinicis a miscarriage that occurs before the fifth week of pregnancy.
“I wasn’t sure whether to share this, if it was too personal, but really, this space has always made me feel so welcome and at home,” Meggan wrote via Instagram. “And isn’t that life? The real, raw, hard parts that we’re often ashamed to share. I know that for so many people who are experiencing this pain in silence, it can feel so alone.”
She continued, “So if you’re going through something similar right now, or have done it before, you’re not alone.”
Meggan and her husband, Niall, have received support from an online community I grieve your loss.
“Thank you for the outpouring of love and for sharing similar stories with me,” Meggan wrote via her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, February 18. “I wanted to send love to everyone else who has experienced this too. Every day feels a little easier, mornings are the hardest. I wake up and forget for a minute, then I remember.”
Meggan told fans that she has tried to remember to find joy and hope moving forward.
“I know there’s still joy, and I’m focusing on the pieces I can find in the days, while this is heavier,” he said. “My world feels a little less small and a little less sad since I let the people I love and you in. So thank you for that.”
Meggan, a fitness influencer with over a million followers on Instagram, also shared a poem about her loss.
“Little toes I’ll never count, Your skin I’ll never smell,” the poem began. “Your eyelashes, how long were they? Time, will not tell. You left this world before you came, and now we are apart. I hope you felt my warmth, my love, and (and) the beating of my heart.”
The poem concluded: “Now, here I stand mourning for the soul I’ll never need. I’ll never be able to touch your little skin or kiss your little feet. Your life was only short, my love, before you were gone. So, save a place in heaven for me. I’ll meet you there, someday.”
Meggan and Niall I am married since 2022 and already shares daughter Winnie.
