After hinting that Bode will struggle with his sobriety, Country of Fire knocked him down, for 10 seconds.
During the Friday, October 24 episode of the CBS series, Bode (Max Thieriot) he was fighting after father vince (Billy Burke) dead Station 42 had to deal with a change in leadership when Brett (Shawn Hatosy) arrived to assess how a firefighter died in the line of duty.
Bode, who thought he deserved to take his father’s place, was not happy working with Brett and went against his orders several times. But at the end of the episode even Bode’s mother, Sharon (Diane Farr), agreed that Brett was not wrong; Bode yes
this it led to the final scene of the episode where Bode went to his closet where he had stored the pills he claimed to have thrown away. Instead, Bode seemed to fall off the wagon for a very short period of time.
Bode took the painkiller and in exactly 10 seconds was throwing it back. The final scene was Bode accepting his decision even though it was unclear if this was his background or not.
“Bode is a recovering addict. It’s something he struggles with and we’ve seen him successfully put it on the back burner for a lot of our show,” the showrunner. Aunt Napolitano explained exclusively to Us Weekly. “With Vince dying and Gabriela gone, it felt like a real challenge that someone struggling with addiction would face. We wanted to honor that authenticity and see him struggle. It’s not going to be easy and we’re going to try to really get him through it and be on that roller coaster with him.”
Napolitano noted that Brett’s appearance at Station 42 would only make things worse for some.
“It really allows us to wonder if he’s a good guy or a bad guy. We know him and we’ll have him for a few episodes. We’ll also see him later in the season,” he teased. “We really want to invest in this character. We get to know him throughout the arc. People want to know who this guy is and what his agenda is? Can we trust him?”
Neapolitan wouldn’t reveal Brett’s true motivessaying, “The things we’ll discover about his style, where he’s from, and what his backstory is will blow us away as we dish out these little breadcrumbs to find out who Richards is.”
Season 4, which premiered earlier this month, picked up after the shocking deaths of Vince and Gabriela (Estefania Arcila) decision to leave Edgewater. The CBS series shocked viewers with the shakes, which Napolitano defended.

“It’s a fire show. Anyone can go at any time,” he said of character deaths and exits. “But as far as losing people, we’re also adding a really fun guest cast. It’s a revolving door of people from Sharon’s past and new faces who are exciting to bring conflict and secrets and twists.”
while “Really spicing it up” this seasonthe show had to walk a “fine line” of still paying tribute to the loss experienced on screen.
“What we’ve done is really thread the needle of honor, especially Vince, because Gabriella’s gone, but she’s gone on to a happy, successful life. She’s still there. But we really follow that line of honoring Vince while also finding hope pretty quickly,” he noted. “Looking forward, the theme of the season is rising from the ashes and recovery.”
Napolitano continued, “How do you bounce back from something like that and we’re really going to see everybody rise to the occasion. In celebration of Vince, of his life and in honor of the sacrifice that he made.”
