FIFA said on Wednesday it had received more than 500 million ticket requests this year’s World Cup.
The soccer body said that outside of the United States, Mexico and Canada, fans living in Germany, England, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Colombia made the most requests.
FIFA is asking for a maximum of $8,680 per ticket. After criticism, FIFA said last month it would offer $60 per match tickets to the tournament’s 48 national federations, with the federations deciding how to distribute them to fans who attended previous games.
He said the most requested match in the third sales phase, which ran from December 11 to Tuesday, was Colombia vs. Portugal on June 27 in Miami Gardens, Florida; followed by Mexico vs. South Korea on June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico; finals July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey; Opener between Mexico and South Africa on June 11 in Mexico City; and the second round game on July 2 in Toronto.
FIFA said it will notify people of their ticket requests before February 5 and will randomly distribute requests for matches that exceed availability.
The games will be played In 16 North American host cities, including US venues Atlanta, Boston, dallasHouston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, miami, New York/New Jersey, PhiladelphiaSan Francisco Bay and Seattle.
