“Before I got on the show, I sat down with showrunner Mike Weiss and said who I thought Eva would be. That was really the deciding factor for me to say, ‘Yeah, this is something that’s really interesting to me. “I think trust is something that probably has to be earned (with her), whether she likes to say it or not. There was a definite break in trust when she gets to the story where she was with someone who was her partner, and she was with them romantically and professionally,” he recalled. “So he probably made an exception to the rule of dating his partner and yet he couldn’t see it. He was so smart and he’s always been doing the right thing and he couldn’t see the person he was in bed with taking it out. It’s a deep wound.”

Eva is still adjusting to her new normal, and Martínez added, “That resistance or that struggle is really interesting with someone who prides himself on knowing everything before everyone else.
