Brussels is exploring building a new satellite network to provide military intelligence as doubts mount over the US’s commitment to European defense.

The system aims to change the US capabilities, after President Donald Trump’s stop by Intelligence Sherats in Ukraine this month is trusted in Europe in America.

“Given the geopolitical conditions are given, the European Commission has considered expanding intelligence capacities for the security of the rough Andrius Kubilii speaks during financial season.

New satellite network will be used to identify threats such as the action of forces and ordaining military action. The discussions recently began, but Lithuanian says Bloc needs a network to complete other programs used for navigating and observing land.

It should make up updated information more frequently than lower orbit copernicus, monitoring climate change and natural disasters but only produces images every 24 hours.

Receiving that the project can be expensive and spend time building, Kubilius said he would ask members if they wanted a “temporary commercial approach”.

“We look forward to creating a specific system as a land observation service. There is high technology and high-data available.” The system works in lower ground orbit, he says. Such networks require many satellites.

He said the best commercial systems can track targets and military deployments with updates every 30 minutes.

The Commission also replaces Iris², its own multi-orbit broadband network in the ground orbit. This year it will complete the GovsatCom program, which connects to member state systems.

Kubilius said first to launch a defense plan next week. The Commission has made € 150bn of member states loans and allow them to exclude some defense expenses from fiscal rules, allowing them to make € 650bn.

The plan, seen in Ft, also allow member states to ask the Kids search commission, Pooling demand to get better prices.

The Commission has not yet known how the expense should be restricted, but President Ursula von der Leyen says that funds should be spent on European products.

Kubili said that countries attached inside that remit will include Norway and “I hope” the UK.

Turkey “is still in reference”, he said. But he explained that the Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland, holding the Rotating Chair of the EU, met the Turkish recep Tayyip eroğan president of March 13, which was a “visible symbol”.

He said funds can also be used to buy firearms from Ukraine for its armed forces. The half of them in the Western price and “and of course it supported the Ukrainian economy”, he said.

Kubilius said the plan emphasizes strategic areas where EU countries are dependent only in the US. This includes Airlift capacity, air-to-air refueling, and air warning and control.

He will also prioritize a missile defense system, which can cost € 500bn.

“We’re naked,” he said. “Shall we take the air defense every country alone or at all? I feel better with a joint system to organize the covering of whole territory. But that is not for us to decide.”
