The English Captain Ben Stokes says it would be “extraordinary” to overlook the player who scored 171 in his last test match after Ollie Pope was chosen over Jacob Bethel for the first test against India.
The Pope is held on no. 3 for LIEDS test, Live on Ski Ski Sports From Friday (11:00 first balls), after reaching 171 in innings in May in the Trent Bridge bridge in May.
Bethell missed that match, while at IPL for Royal Challengers Bengalur, but the impressive start of his English career led to a call to renew him right away.
The 21-year-old looked inserted as he scored three in the 1950s of no. 3 positions in New Zealand in their test series and also shone in recent white ball in relation to West India, especially with 53-ball 82 in the first one-day internationality.
Bethell’s left hand could also be a useful option with temperatures that accelerated a dry terrain, but the Pope Vice President is given to the climate, opposite the side, only 24.6 against its total 35.49.
“(The) Big Selection came from us. It would be extraordinary to choose someone else if they were last all that was quite everything I have to see on it,” said “” Tell Stokes.
He asked how the Pope dealt with extra supervision around his position, he added: “At that day, it is very difficult to see all the speculation around it because of how easy things are not even having to ask you to even have to ask.
“I think the result of 170 in his last test match shows how well it can deal with these extra supervision and comes with the territory. When you are an international player, it comes with it.
“It’s one of those things, when you’re a kid, you dream of playing for England and that’s an amazing thing. The other side is, you can come under the pump.
“It’s part of the territory and handling them. There will always be someone’s path at some point.”
Stokes: I’m doing to go
The five-test series in England against India is preceded by the Ash guest tour later this year, where they did not win at almost 15 years.
Stokes were stopped since they were suspended by the left suspension in New Zealand, but last month returned to the dominant victory of England in Zimbabwe.
“Physical when I was 20, I didn’t even know what it was stiff! I’m 34 and everything is just a little harder,” he said to be stuck on his fitness.
“I’m hard to be right where I am today. I’m physically, where I’m at a great time. I’m just a little two days of training, two days before it’s ready to go games.”
India goes unknown under the new captain, Shubman Gill and without the icon Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but Stokes says England does not underestimate his opponents.
“It’s been a long time to wait. We had different preparations for different individuals,” he said.
“Obviously we had children in the right of their bodies, some guys who play the district cricket. Everyone is really excited to be here now and looking forward to tomorrow.
“We know it will be difficult, it’s always against India. Five test matches is very demanding on the body, so we focus on these five games.”
