Emma Stone She’s never shied away from a movie role transformation, but her latest came with some motherly talk.
Stone, 36, said she talked to her 4-year-old daughter, Louise Jean, so she wasn’t surprised to come home with a head completely shaved while filming the comedy/sci-fi movie Bugonia, reportedly USA Today on Wednesday, October 23.
The actress plays Michelle Fuller in the film, a high-powered pharmaceutical CEO who is kidnapped by conspiracy theorists who are convinced she is an alien bent on destroying Earth. In order to prevent him from carrying out their master plan, or so they believe, they shave his head to block his ability to contact his mothership.
The star said she wanted her son to be “very prepared” to see him bald “so it’s not too scary” considering he was “such an important transformation.” (Stone welcomed Louise Jean with her husband, Dave McCaryin March 2021. The couple has been married since September 2020.)

Isn’t it so silly and fun? We can do whatever we want with our hair! It can change all the time.’ She said, ‘OK,’ and then it was totally cool.”
Stone also had to mentally prepare for the drastic change. Added to the pressure of all this is the fact that the director Yorgos Lanthimos he knew he had “one chance to get it right.”
To make sure there weren’t any hiccups during filming, he had four different cameras ready to go “just to make sure none of them got stuck.”
“They kept saying, ‘We’ll be ready in 10 minutes.’ No, actually 30 minutes. No, actually an hour,” Stone shared in retrospect, revealing that she got the “coldest feet” when her nerves started to get the best of her.
She added: “I was sitting there, building the anticipation. So I had a little last-minute freak out, and then Yorgos came over, we talked, and I said, ‘I’ll be fine.’ It’s going to be great.” And I absolutely loved it.”
Stone said he was practically in a meditative state as he shaved his bald head, “telling myself to hold still because if I opened my eyes or got excited, I would really mess things up.”
Just two months ago, the Easy A The star gushed about motherhood in August, naming Louise the “the greatest gift of my life” during an interview with Vogue while revealing that being a father has affected the roles he chooses, his passion for his craft and more.
Stone, who previously won an Academy Award for her role as Bella Baxter in poor thingshe previously dedicated his second Oscar win to his daughter.
“I think it unlocks different things,” she explained during her interview, revealing that she experiences deeper emotions. “I feel everything I can feel, because everything has exploded.”
bugonia hits select theaters on Friday, October 24 and nationwide on Friday, October 31.
