Aston Villa striker Doniel Mullen has joined Roma after just one year at Villa Park.
In a statement from Roma, it is said that the contract is an initial loan with an option to buy the Dutch forward.
Villa’s statement does not specify, but it is understood that the option becomes an obligation to buy him if certain conditions are met.
According to The sky in ItalyRoma will pay a loan fee of £1.7m and then a fee of £21.6m if and when the deal becomes permanent.
Atletico Madrid and Juventus has also shown some interest in Malen.
He has been in the Italian capital completing his move for the past few days. He is thought to want to play regularly as a centre-forward and Roma have given him that assurance.
Mullen signed for Villa from Borussia Dortmund on January 14 last year for an initial fee of £21m (€24.2m) and has made 46 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and adding two assists.
Mullen’s departure means that only Villa boss Unai Emery has him Ollie Watkins and Evann Guessandwho can play a role but is yet to score in the Premier League, to be called upon in forward areas.
Villa are currently showing an interest in the Roma striker Tammy Abrahamwho is on loan at Besiktas.
Villa completed the signing of the 17-year-old forward Brian Madjo from Metz and Alisson from the Grammys earlier in the window, but both players are seen as developing players.
