Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla Vessiareceived support from their MLB teammates in the weeks following the death of their newborn daughter.
“Having all the boys show up in matching pyjamas,” Kayla, 29, wrote during a TikTok video on Saturday, January 4, where Alex, also 29, was overwhelmed on Christmas morning as his pals wore pairs of navy flannel pyjamas.
In the newly shared footage, Alex could be heard yelling, “I knew it so well” once he noticed that all the Dodgers athletes were dressed the same. He added: “We’re all dressed in the same shit!”
Kayla captioned her post: “A good laugh 😂.”
Alex and Kayla announced in November 2025 that their daughter, Sterling Sol, “went to heaven.”
“There are no words to describe the pain we are going through, but we have her in our hearts and we cherish every second we spent with her.” an Instagram statement read. “Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family came through for us and we couldn’t do it without them.”
While Alex and Kayla mourned his unexpected loss, he sat out the entirety of the Dodgers’ World Series championship run last fall. The Los Angeles team, who even wore Alex’s jersey number on their baseball caps in solidarity, eventually beat the Toronto Blue Jays to take home the trophy.)
Kayla later returned to social media on Friday, January 3, sharing an update on how she and her husband were coping.
@babyy_vesia A good laugh 😂 #surprise #coincidence #fun
“Alex and I are just trying to get through it every day. Every day is so different for us, and I’m really at a loss for words,” Kayla told an emotional TikTok video. “I share a lot of Alex and I’s life here (and) it felt good to come and say thank you. I’m so grateful for the community of you just expressing your support and love for us. It’s really brought us a lot of comfort during this.”
Kayla also shared how difficult it was to lose her son.
“Be prepared for anything, I was prepared for anything that happened. I wasn’t prepared not to bring my baby home,” she said through tears on Friday. “I don’t know what the (new) year will bring. I’ll slowly get back here. I love you guys, and that’s all for now.”
According to Kayla, she wanted to start sharing updates on her life and grief journey in the new year.
“(I don’t know) what this content will look like in the future, but I want to share my journey,” Kayla said. “I don’t know how much I’m going to share, I don’t know the details, but I know I want to share if it can help someone going through the same thing to feel like they’re not alone.”
She continued, “I don’t want to go on the Internet and cry. I don’t think it’s fun for anybody. I think it’s going to be a good outlet to be able to talk and share, other than me and Alex talking (or us) talking to our therapist. It’s just a different outlet. Right now, I don’t have much to say, I’m just so grateful and I’m so loved for you. during this time.”
