Disney+ launched short videos this year


After the success of TikTok and Instagram Reels, Disney declare which brings short video content to Disney+ in the US this year to increase daily engagement. Disney made the announcement at the Tech + Data Showcase event at CES 2026.

The company said in a blog post that the experience “will evolve as it spreads across news and entertainment and deliver a dynamic, more personalized experience that reinforces Disney+ as a daily destination worth visiting.”

Disney told deadline that video can include short original content, re-edited social clips, scenes from TV shows or movies, or a combination.

“We’re obviously thinking about integrating vertical video in a way that’s authentic to our core user behavior,” Erin Teague, EVP of Product Management for Disney Entertainment and ESPN, told Deadline. “So, it’s not going to be a random, haphazard experience.”

The move comes as Disney launched a private vertical video feed in the ESPN app last year.

By introducing short video content to Disney+, the company is targeting younger users who are used to watching quick clips on their phones instead of long content like TV shows and movies.

Disney+ isn’t the first streamer to explore vertical video, though Netflix launches vertical feed last year that allowed users to scroll through clips from their original titles.
