Disney sent a cease-and-desist letter to Google on Wednesday, insisting that the tech giant is running on copyright, Various Report.
Disney is accusing the tech giant of copyright infringement on a “massive scale,” claiming it has used its AI Models and Services to distribute unauthorized images and videos, according to letters that appear to vary widely.
“Google operates as a virtual vending machine, capable of producing, rendering, and distributing copies of Disney’s useful library of copyrighted characters and other works on a mass scale,” the letter said. “And the infringement comping that pleases Google, many infringing images created by Google’s AI service are said to be with the Google Gemini logo, falsely exploiting the Google Gemini provided and supported by Disney.”
The letter confirms that Google’s AI system violates the characters of “frozen,” “where,” said the little Mermaid, “and so on.” Google did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment.
The move came on the same day Disney signed a $1 billion, three-year deal with Openai which will bring a good character to the company’s Sora Ai video generator.
