So what do Maradona’s tactics look like, especially Ibarra picked up on football reasons, not just a bait of nepotism?
“When the coaches talk about philosophy, it’s always hard to answer,” he says.
“But I’ll explain.
“All American coaches want to have an 80% possession of the ball. All American coaches want to be majority. All American coaches want to always play with our teams.
“But in five years of experience I had as a coach, I realized that unfortunately it was always not always possible. Clubs always look at the results. They don’t care about everything else.
“So, in my opinion, philosophy must be able to combine the idea of football that the coach has results. And it is not easy.
“We all want to be Pep Gardiola, we all want to be Mikel Artet, we all want to be Enzo Maresca. But it’s not easy because they don’t all have a city, Chelsea, Arsenala players.
“So, we need to do what you need and adapt our idea to what we have available.”
But like his father, the tactic had very little to do with it. Maradona’s year games was more to do with a clean taler – but also the principles of the game.
So, if the tactics are fluent and the influence of his father stay there, what does the MARADONE son want from its players?
“I start with a basic principle, which is to give advantage to players who know how to play football,” he adds. “And more, those who try to be the main hero.
“For example, my tactical principle is the third man who works, passes and moves, is direct when it is possible. Otherwise it is about what is possible to own.
“But then, I repeat, every game and every situation leads you to have different principles or perhaps different from what you have.
“For example, if there is a gamer where you need to be more direct and more to play to the attacker, I believe that the coach would, even if it has a philosophy of possession, it should do it.
“For example, we are talking about Guardioli, about the possession, to maintain possession. But the teams of the guard, when they must be direct, they are direct.
“There are a lot of plays in the city that go directly to Erling Haaland. And maybe the idea of playing for the guard doesn’t reflect much there, but it works.
“I always hope my teams can read the games and situations.”
His father was known as Golden child – The Golden Boy.
His son is still flying in that football flag, raising rows in the coaching game – and given the success in Ibarry, it seems to have that golden touch.
