“I just want to come over here and say hi. I tried to get back to a lot of you. I know there were so many I didn’t reply to. I’ve seen everyone’s messages. I just want to say thank you.”

The fatal fire occurred at the home of Denny’s parents, Dennis, 75, in North Carolina Mary Louaged 69, on the night of December 28. Both were taken to a local hospital with “catastrophic injuries,” the Gaston County Fire and Emergency Management Office confirmed the next day.

“It’s been a very strange and sad season,” Fish continued. “It’s not much of an off-season, and it’s hard to believe that next weekend we’re going to start again, and I don’t think we’re really stuck.”

She concluded: “I’m fighting a little illness right now. I just want to come here and say thank you for reaching out and supporting our family. We really appreciate it.”

Denny, 45, reported on his mother’s recovery Fox Sports Digital on Thursday, January 22, which has “good days, bad days, but it gets better.”

The three-time Daytona 500 winner thanked fans for their condolences via X three days after the fire.

“Thank you to everyone who has offered their condolences on the death of my father,” he wrote on December 31. “My mother continues to improve, and our family truly appreciates the support and respect for our privacy during this time.”

A few weeks before Denny had cried in court while discussing his father’s impact on his ability to pursue his NASCAR dreams. (NASCAR and 3XI Racing, which he co-owns with Denny Michael Jordanreached a settlement on December 11 in their antitrust case.)

“We got there when I was about 20 years old and a decision had to be made, I could either keep racing or go out and work for my dad’s towing business,” Denny said in his testimony, telling the court of the sacrifices Dennis made to allow him to continue racing.

Denny told The Associated Press in October that Dennis was battling a “serious illness” and that 2025 would be his last chance to see his son win the NASCAR Cup Series.

“I know for a fact that this is my last chance for my dad to see this. I don’t want him to go and never see the moment,” she said.

When Denny finally fell short, he said his father supported him.

“He didn’t like the outcome, but I think he still agreed with the outcome,” Denny said on a November episode of his podcast “Harmful Actions with Denny Hamlin.” “You know, he said to me, like a lot of people say, he’s like, ‘I don’t know what to say. What am I supposed to say?’ He says, ‘You got it. you did it You just don’t have the trophy.”
