Cher, 79, went viral after her appearance on the Jan. 5 episode of “Armchair Expert,” as she offered a trenchant commentary on Shepard’s marriage to Bellher old and old friend burlesque to cost
“(You’re definitely the better half (in the relationship)),” Cher told Bell, who also appeared in the episode.
“Who would be your dream match for her? Because I know you think she could be better, and I don’t disagree,” Shepard asked Cher.

While Cher didn’t have a name to offer in response, she did call Shepard a “good dad,” and Bell agreed that he’s the “best dad ever.”
“The truth is, I trust her. So you must have something that I don’t see,” Cher added.
Shepard tried to defend herself, pointing out “what you would like from me.”

“I adore you and I understand that no one is good enough for (Bell),” she said.
Shepard and Bell married in 2013 after six years of marriage. The couple later welcomed daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11.
A day after sharing her reaction to Cher’s comments, Shepard said she sometimes feels insecure when people compare her looks to Bell’s.
“I’ve been with Kristen for 20 years and there have been hundreds of articles about, ‘Why is she with this guy?’ “Top 10 Girls With Ugly Boys Lists,” she said during the Monday, January 12, episode of her podcast. “I’ve dealt with it less now since the podcast, but for the first 12 or 13 years we were together, there were hundreds of these lists of ugly guys with pretty girls, and I’m always on it.”
Shepard said he is usually “so hurt and insecure” when he first hears or sees such comments, but then becomes “defensive and arrogant.”
“I’m like, ‘Go meet my other friends. All have been beautiful. Fuck it, right? I have this defensive attitude,” he continued. “And then when I calm down, I get really into it. I’m like, you know, it’s really interesting. I think I know what’s going on. And it just sticks us in elementary school and school, which is like, there are strata. You were born into them. One does not have to migrate north or south. It’s morphed into this whole system that we’ve been trained in.”
Shepard explained that she sees negative comments about her appearance from men more often than from women.
“Guys are saying, ‘Kristen is with this ugly guy.’ They’re threatened,” he added. “And I think, shouldn’t that be encouraging? Even if that’s your conclusion, like this four got this 10, isn’t that life-affirming and positive? Like, doesn’t that say I could achieve anything? I thought it would be comforting for guys like me who look normal. I think it’s the opposite.”
