Dancing with the stars pro Jenna Johnson is addressing the viral speculation that she was injured in a near-fatal car accident.
“Hundreds of you have brought to my attention that there is an article circulating that I was involved in an accident with other horrific information,” Johnson, 31, wrote via his Instagram stories on Sunday, January 18. “This is absolutely FAKE NEWS.”
Over the weekend, a series of Facebook posts claimed that Johnson and her husband, Val Chmerkovskiy, they were seriously injured in a near-catastrophic car accident. Social media uploads also included images of a totaled car.
“It’s SO disturbing (sic) that artificial intelligence is being used to spread misinformation like this,” Johnson said, blaming artificial intelligence for crafting the posts about the alleged accident. “Real lives are not to be trifled with.”
Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy started out as colleagues on Dancing With the Stars and ended up as a happily married couple in real life. She continued: “Please stop using my pictures to spread fake news articles for clickbait. It’s disgusting!!! Whoever started this should be ashamed of themselves.”
Johnson and Chmerkovskiy, 39, are currently getting ready in 2026 DWTS live tourwhich begins on Thursday, January 22 in Akron, Ohio. The couple is also bringing their 3-year-old son Roma along for the five-month-old show.
Johnson last appeared on the tour in 2024, alongside former partner Joey Graziadei for a handful of dates.
“Selfishly as a performer, I’ve needed this past month (and) half more than I can express,” Johnson wrote via Instagram in 2024 at the end of his tour. “Since becoming a mother (truly the biggest role I’ve ever dreamed of) I’ve felt like I’ve lost my identity as an artist. I’ve felt guilty and torn between being the best mother I can be and being fulfilled as a performer. I didn’t think I was allowed to have both…until this experience rehearsing and now dancing on tour.”
She continued: “I’ve never been more exhausted waking up at 7am with Roma on the bus, being a mum until I have to start getting ready, finish the show at 10.30pm and go to bed on average around 1.30am/2am every night. It’s exhausted me, but it’s brought me a crazy happiness that has made me realize that she gets me to dare enough. Every mom is out there, don’t give up on your dreams!!
According to Johnson, she began to “fall even more in love with dance” after returning to the stage. He followed the tour with an active slot DWTS last year’s season 34, where she partnered with Corey Feldman.
While Johnson and Feldman, 54, were eliminated after the first week of competition, the professional dancer continued to perform throughout the season in various bumpers.
