Craig Gordon has no intention of moving away from Hearts despite not featuring for the Scottish Premiership leaders this season.
The 43-year-old goalkeeper’s only competitive action since returning from a shoulder injury came for Scotland in World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Denmark in November.
There has been speculation that Gordon, currently second choice behind Alexander Schwallow, could seek a loan move from Tynecastle Park to boost his hopes of starting for the national team at this summer’s World Cup.
“I’ve been training well. I feel like I’m one step away from getting the opportunity,” he said Ski Sports News.
“For me, it’s just to make sure I’m as prepared as possible, to be ready and if that chance comes, I can take it.”
“I’m fully focused on trying to get into the team here and trying to help the club be successful.”
On the possibility of leaving Hearts on loan this month, the former Sunderland and Celtic goalkeeper added: “You can’t say 100 per cent, definitely not.
“But at the moment, I’m more than happy to help the lads go out there every week and get points on the board which keeps us challenging at the top of the league.
Derek McInnes’ side are currently three points clear of Rangers and six ahead of Celtic as they bid to become the first non-Old Firm side to win the league since Aberdeen in 1985.
While Gordon lacks getting on the pitch, he is making good use of his title-winning experience with Celtic.
“You get that little bit jealous when the boys walk there,” he added.
“We are a good team, in which it is pleasant to be part of, to go there and achieve results.”
“I’d like to be there and help them, but I can also do a few things behind the scenes to help the guys, make sure we’re all going in the same direction and doing our best.”
