Colombian President Petro defends national security in the face of Trump’s threats




Days after threatening military action against Colombia, US President Donald Trump said he had invited Colombian President Gustavo Petros to the White House after what was described as a cordial phone conversation. Petro, who strongly condemned the US operation targeting Nicolás Maduro, later appeared at a rally in Bogotá framed by the defense of national sovereignty in the face of Trump’s threats, where he said he called for the renewal of dialogue between the two countries.
