Colombia says 57 soldiers kidnapped civilians

The Colombia military said 57 soldiers were kidnapped by civilians in the southwestern west country of the country.

It says 31 soldiers seized on Saturday while others were arrested on Sunday in a group of over 200 people.

The military said civilians acted at pressure from the Rebel’s Rebel’s Rebel who agreed with a government peace agreement in 2016.

The mountainous region is a key zone for cocaine production and remains a greater than the continuing conflict with rebels.

In a video statement on social media, Brig Gen Federico Alberto Mejia said four officers not told by the 53 soldiers seized at the end of the week.

“It’s called kidnapping,” he said.

Local media reports suggest that the EMC rebels group – the largest FARC offhoot – may command kidnappings.

EMC does not comment on the issue.

The Micay Canyon is used for carrying the cocaine to Pacific ports, and drugs illegally sent to other countries.
