Clark Hunt it’s like every NFL fan, waiting to see what Travis Kelce will decide on his possible retirement — but the Kansas City Chiefs owner has his own dream scenario for the tight end.
“Well, as an organization, we certainly hope he comes back,” Hunt, 60, said during an appearance on the Tuesday, Jan. 27 episode of NFL Network. good morning football.
Hunt noted that the 36-year-old Kelce had “another great year” with the organization, though it wasn’t “maybe up to where he was four or five years ago.”
The Chiefs CEO noted that Kelce still had more than 800 yards going into the 2025-2026 season and was “really one of the leaders on the offensive side of the ball for us.”
Hunt revealed: “So I have no doubt he can still play.”
Despite having confidence in Kelce’s abilities before next seasonHunt said the organization doesn’t want to push him one way or another.
“We’re trying to be respectful and let him have the time he needs to make a decision,” Hunt explained, adding that Kelce “has a busy offseason with his engagement and marriage (for taylor swift), so we want to be respectful and give you the time you need to make a decision. But we sure hope he comes back.”

As the team’s CEO and president, Clark is one of the most public members of leadership, and has been part of the Chiefs’ most recent rise to greatness. While in their current position, the Chiefs have reached the playoffs 12 times, won the AFC West 11 times, and participated in five Super Bowls, winning three.
Kelce, meanwhile, has been on the team for all three Super Bowl championships. He was drafted by the Chiefs in 2013 as the 63rd overall pick and has only played in the organization his entire NFL career.
Although Kelce has three Super Bowl rings to his name, he and the Chiefs didn’t make the playoffs this season, which some fans believe will play a role in whether or not he retires in the offseason.

Kelce, meanwhile, has gone shy what do you plan to do as he and girlfriend Swift, 36, plan their upcoming nuptials. (Kelce proposed in August 2025 after two years of dating the Grammy winner.)
“I have a lot of love for this team, this organization and the people here, so I’m going to spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow and get close to the family and find out,” Kelce told reporters on Jan. 4 after the Chiefs’ final game of the season.

The professional athlete explained: “I think right now it’s just finding that answer and seeing how the body feels after this game and when everything settles down.”
As NFL fans and the entire Chiefs Kingdom wait with bated breath for Travis’ official announcement, Us Weekly informed who is currently in talks with Netflix to “serve as their exclusive sports correspondent.”
