Sean Bowen rode his rivals to sleep from the front at Glengoolly to give Faye Bramley the biggest winner of her career in December’s Hunt Support Fund Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
Champion jockey Bowen was allowed to dictate things at his own pace, stacking the field behind him as he continued to give his mounts a breather.
Turning into the straight all the main market fancies were moving into position to challenge Vincenzo, Hoe Joli Smoke and Jaguar close enough, if good enough.
However, Bowen knew exactly what he was sitting on and ex-prisoner Willie Mullins had plenty left as he headed uphill for a 33-1 success.
Vincenzo was half a length away in second, with Jaguar a neck away in third.
The winning owners, The Cheeki Pups syndicate, pledged to donate £10,000 of their winnings to the Hunt Family Fund, with close to £500,000 raised through various channels during the week for the charity.
More to come...
