The introductory race of the Cheltenham Festival was renamed the late Michael O’Sullivan.
O’Sullivan died earlier this month, from 24 years, injuries suffered a decline on the raceholder.
The Hugly Talented Rider, O’Sullivan won the Heavies of Supreme Novak, and on the ship’s names, and the sponsors of that race, in partnership with Jockey Club, decided to change the name of Michael O’Sullivan this year.
In Statement on Thursday, the O’Sullivan family said, “We are deeply proud of Michael’s incredible talent and heritage left in the world of race worlds.
“Renaming the race that marked the peak of his career was honored to his skill, commitment and passion for sports.
“As a family, we always admired Michael’s achievements and the trail, and that much means that his talent is to see this way. The spill of honors in the past week is that this is evidence of influence that has had so much life.
“We would like to honestly thank Jockey Club and Ski roles to give us this opportunity to honor Michael’s memory and celebrate his exceptional career.”
Gui Lavender, General Manager of Cheltenham Racecourse, said, “Michael was an extraordinary jockey and everyone recognized everyone as a wonderful young man.
“When you read honest honors who paid off over the past few days, you can see how much it is very valued in the race community on both sides of the Irish sea and beyond.
“Given that Michael enjoyed his greatest success as a rider on that magical Tuesday in 2023. years, we were just okay to honor the honor in this way we only have to honor Michael.
