Information from the conservative, AI-generated encyclopedia developed by Elon Musk’s xAI began to appear in the answers of ChatGPT.
xAI launched Grokipedia in October, after Musk complained that Wikipedia was biased against conservatives. Journalists immediately noted that many articles appeared copied directly from WikipediaGrokipedia too admit that pornography contributes to the AIDS crisis, offers “ideological justification” for slavery, and uses derogatory terms for transgender people.
All that can be expected for the encyclopedia associated with the chatbot describes himself as “Mecha Hitler” and used to flood X with sexual deepfakes. However, its content now appears to be outside the Musk ecosystem, entirely the Guardian reports that GPT-5.2 cited Grokipedia nine times in response to more than a dozen different questions.
The Guardian says ChatGPT does not cites Grokipedia when asked about topics that are very inaccurately reported – topics like the January 6 uprising or the HIV/AIDS epidemic. An OpenAI spokesperson told the Guardian that it “aims to draw from a wide range of publicly available sources and viewpoints.”
