In January 2026, the eldest son of the former footballer and fashion designer broke his silence about him and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham’The dispute continues with his parents.
“I have been silent for years and have made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth only about some of the lies that have been published,” he wrote on social media. “I don’t want to reconcile with my family. I’m not controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
Brooklyn claimed that David and Victoria have “controlled narratives in the press” about their family for “their whole lives”. He further alleged that his parents have been trying to “ruin (his) relationship” with Nicola since before their 2022 wedding. During their nuptials, Brooklyn claimed, Victoria allegedly “hijacked” her son and daughter-in-law’s first dance and “danced inappropriately at (Brooklyn) in front of everyone.”
As for David, Brooklyn alleged that his father “rejected” him and Nicola when they visited him for his 50th birthday in 2025.
“I’ve been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he concluded. “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since moving away from my family, that anxiety is gone. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose and we have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want (is) peace, privacy and happiness for our family.”
