A US military base in Georgia’s state is in Lockdown as officers looking for an active stander.
A Facebook post from military base that the site is locked at 11:04 EST (16:04 GMT) and said “The casualties reported”.
It is unclear how many people shot or injured Wednesday’s shooting occurred at Fort Stewart, 240 miles (386km) south east of Atlanta.
“We now check the situation, but we can confirm an active shudens,” Lt. Col. Angel Tomko told the Associated Press.
Gooregia Governor Brian Kemp said he was in the “close contact” with law enforcement.
“We have kept the victims, their families, and all who answered the call to serve our hearts and prayers, and we asked that Georgians had the same,” he wrote on Twitter.
Congressman Buddy Carter, whose district included Fort Stewart, said he was “guarded the situation”.
“Please join me in prayers for casualties, their families, and brave officials in law enforcement work to protect our community,” he wrote on Twitter.
