Captain Jason Chambers he opened up about why he thought of as the main stew Daisy Kelliher fit better against Ben Robinson – instead of alum Aesha Scott – during season 4 of Under the deck.
“(Daisy and Ben) are on all the time. They’re non-stop,” Jason exclusively said Us Weekly. “That’s why I think people like Kate Chastain were so strong. Hannah Ferrier was so strong in the beginning, especially with Ben. I don’t know if Aesha (Scott) would have handled it (the same way).
Jason pointed out that the Under cover Mediterranean star is at a different “point” in his life, adding: “She was like, ‘I don’t need this.’ Whereas Daisy came in and had a lot to prove to herself that she’s a great student. She has the strength that she had to stand up and really prove herself by digging her heels in.”
He continued: “To see these two, I hope they show everything. Because they’ll be with each other for a good two or three minutes and I’m just sitting there. Then it would end with some kind of sarcastic joke and there would be laughter as it went into the horizon. So that’s what it was: constant laughter.”
The official trailer for season 4 the tension caused between Daisy and Ben. The stew in chief, meanwhile, teased us about the outcome of his back-and-forth with Ben.
“This season in the galley my biggest challenges (had to do with Ben),” Daisy exclusively said Us Weekly before the show’s return earlier this season. “Ben is an interesting person to work with. He’s a lot of fun, he’s got a great personality and he’s great TV. But it’s definitely a challenge.”

Daisy recognized the similarities between her and Ben.
“Maybe we’re both as stubborn as the others,” he pointed out. “(Our issues were) kind of all of those things. It was the guest cabin, it was the way he managed his team and the way he ran his kitchen. There were difficulties with communication, so the timing and not imagining the service in the same way. Honestly, there were a lot of difficulties and challenges.”
Despite their problems, Daisy said Ben is “a hard person to stay angry with”, adding: “But neither of us wanted animosity, and I think we both wanted to do our best for the guests. Because that was our main focus, we could always go back and say, ‘OK, look, we like it’. How can we make that goal happen?”
She continued: “But I think towards the end of the season I was getting frustrated. We have a few flare-ups, and there are definitely some arguments. It’s hard because I was trying to do a good job, like him. It was all honestly a challenge.”
Jason, meanwhile, hinted that Season 4 it was “a challenge for everyone” on board.
“There’s a difference between the fights we’ve seen in previous seasons and this one. That’s what the audience is going to love now, that I’m really starting to see how it’s going to play out myself. I just see it with all of you. But it’s the fact that the things that are going on are real personality and work-related issues to overcome,” shared Jason. “Working in such close confinement, it’s really raw stuff. It’s not just pointless arguing about silly things. It’s just the crew, not just the department heads. There’s more to it than them, but it’s actually a challenging drama that’s meaningful or poignant about operating a ship.”
Under the deck airs Mondays on Bravo at 8 pm ET. New episodes play the next day on Peacock.
