Eleanor McManuscrisis manager and public relations consultant, agrees, explaining we that Gilbert’s decision to publicly defend Busfield is “bold” and a “gamble”.

“She’s leaning heavily on her Little House wholesome image and family values, framing her as a loyal wife by her man’s side, but the child sexual abuse allegations are in a league of their own,” warned McManus, who also hasn’t worked with Gilbert. “Standing by her husband’s side, through her statement, appearing at the hearing, this letter to the judge, carries a huge risk for her.” (Gilbert has issued several statements since Busfield’s arrest and wrote an emotional letter to the judge on her husband’s behalf. She was also named as a witness in the case.)
