The Governor of California Gavin Newsom asked the US Federal Government at $ 40 billion (£ 31.6b) of funds in Los Angeles fires.
Newsom sends the request to Congress leaders in a letter Friday. He said funds can help quickly and prolonged recovery.
“I asked Congress to return to Americans and provide disaster funds to help California recover and rebuild as soon as possible,” he wrote to social media.
Fires, beginning on 7 January, burnt 37,469 acres and killed at least 26 people in the Great Los Angeles Area.
Funds will be used for workers recovery, tax incentives, wildfire strength and private property development, says the Newsom.
Under the newsom suggestion, the largest part of funds – 42% – goes to public help to remove waste removal and work fix.
“The affected communities experience widespread disruption and the full economic impact of California ages years to fully qualified,” Newsom letter.
About 150,000 residents have been displaced since fires began early in January.
Most Los Angeles communities in Pacific Palisades and Aladena are destroyed in the days of blazes.
The request supports support from certain lawmakers representing the area.
“This package will provide an injection required by federal assistance for reconstruction of homes, businesses, and places that have lost loved ones, houses lost in loved ones, Homes lost loved ones, homes lost loved ones, houses lost loved ones, houses lost loved ones, houses lost in their Dear, “Judy Chu, a democratic congressman, as a statement.
It is unclear how congress was received, where both rooms were blocked by Republicans with narrow people.
Last month, ahead of his visit to Los Angeles, President Donald Trump told the fox news he did not think that the federal government should provide the Federal Supply to the Federal Southern State.
After his visit to the palisades, Trump describes the destruction as “destruction”.
“I don’t think you know how difficult it is, how serious it’s time until you see it,” Trump said. “I mean, I saw many bad things on television, but its width, its greatness, we flew with a helicopter.”
