Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips disagrees with NFL team’s decision to fire head coach Sean McDermott following their own playoff loss to the Denver Broncos.
“This shit here is so stupid, honestly, sick,” Phillips, 33, wrote via her Instagram story on Monday, January 19, alongside a post about Dermott’s firing. “The best coach I’ve ever been with.”
Phillips reposted a chart highlighting the Bills’ accomplishments since the 51-year-old McDermott took over as head coach in 2017.
“Record: 106-58. Net Points: +795. 5th Most Points Scored. 3rd Fewest Points Allowed,” the post read.
Another of the Bills’ defensive tackles, DaQuan Jonesalso took to her Instagram story on Monday to react to the news.
“It doesn’t make sense, but you got what you wanted,” Jones, 34, wrote.

The team’s starting quarterback, Josh Allenhas yet to publicly address McDermott’s dismissal via social media.
Owner of invoices Terry Pegula announced earlier Monday that McDermott had been fired from the team, less than two days after his 33-30. overtime loss to the Broncos in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
“Sean has done an admirable job leading our football team over the past nine seasons,” Pegula, 74, said in a statement released by the Bills. “But I think we need a new structure within our leadership to give this organization the best opportunity to take our team to the next level. We owe that to our players and Bills Mafia.”
He continued, “Sean helped change the mindset of this organization and was instrumental in making the Bills a perennial playoff team. I respect all the hard work, loyalty and attention to detail he showed for this team and the community. I wish Sean, (his wife) Jamie and their family all the best.”
Pegula shared that Bills GM, Brandon Beanehe will now serve as the team’s president of football operations.
“Brandon will oversee all facets of our football operation, including overseeing our coaching staff,” he said. “I fully trust and have witnessed Brandon’s exceptional leadership style and have confidence in his abilities to lead our organization.”
Pegula also revealed that Beane, 49, will lead the search for a new head coach, working directly with the Bills owner and his newly appointed president of business operations. Pete Guelli.
ESPN reported that McDermott told his staff on Monday that he intended to continue coaching. Seven other NFL teams are currently looking to fill their coaching vacancies: the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.
The Bills played in a record four consecutive Super Bowls from 1991 to 1994, losing each. They have not advanced to the championship game since.
