The first part of Bridgerton Season 4 ended on an awkward note with Sophie and Benedict: so where is the show going from here after this offer?
Netflix’s hit Regency series returned on Thursday, January 29 with Benedict (Luke Thompson) initially in love with a mysterious woman he met at his mother’s masquerade ball. Things got more complicated when he developed feelings for a maid named Sophie (Yerin Ha) — that we will know that she is the woman of the ball.
Benedict, however, he is divided between his research by a woman he does not know and a growing attraction to Sophie, with whom he cannot have a proper future as she is a maid. His response to these problems is a bit outside the box with Benedict hooking up with Sophie on the stairs of her house (for Olivia Rodrigo“Bad Idea Right”) before proposing to her to be his lover.
Sophie didn’t seem pleased with the offer. In response, she left Benedict to fend for himself and the fate of their love story remains to be determined.
In another part of the show, Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and John (Victor Alli) they experienced various problems as a couple, only made more complicated by the return of John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza), who viewers know is Francesca’s future love interest.

Benedict and Sophie

Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson in Bridgerton Season 4
netflixSeason 4 began with Benedict looking for a woman he met at a dance, who was none other than Sophie under a mask. Thanks to a twist of fate, they crossed paths again, but this time with Benedict properly meeting Sophie, the maid. They quickly formed a connection and Benedict hired her into his mother’s house, which only made them more desperate to explore their feelings for each other.
Benedict made a move on Sophie before offering her more in life. Your version of more in life even though she was his lover, which didn’t sound so good to him.
Penelope and Colin

Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan in Season 4 of Bridgerton
Liam Daniel/Netflix © 2025Married life seemed to suit Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) quite well. The Season 3 couple spent their time having sex, being parents, or discussing Penelope’s new challenges now that she’s been unmasked as Lady Whistledown.
Kate and Anthony

It remains to be seen where Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simon Ashley) will end because as of part 1 they were nowhere to be found. Bridgerton explained his lack of screen time by sending the couple to India after the arrival of their first baby. No other information was given on his whereabouts, or when they would return in London for the new social season.
Francesca and Joan

Victor Alli and Hannah Dodd
Liam Daniel/NetflixAfter returning from Scotland, Francesca is eager to expand her family with John. The couple, however, have been unsuccessful so far and it didn’t help that Francesca had no idea what a “pinnacle” was, which affected her sex life with her husband. He still hadn’t figured it out when the first part ended, but he was reunited with Michaela, though Francesca seemed far from pleased about it.
Eloisa

Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
Liam Daniel/NetflixAnother season has Eloise (Claudia Jessie) hoping not to have to look for love. Her mother made it difficult this season, but Eloise managed to avoid any romance (so far) before her next season. Instead, Eloise ended Part 1 with a fight with sister Hyacinth (Florence Hunt).
Alice and Will

(L to R) Martins Imhangbe as Will Mondrich, Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich.
Liam Daniel/NetflixJust as Alice and Will were adjusting to life on the loose, Lady Danbury created a scheme that uprooted their lives. With Lady Danbury hoping to leave London, she needed to find a replacement for herself to keep Queen Charlotte happy. Enter Alice, that now he must prove himself to the queen.
Violeta and Marcus

Most of Season 4 explored Violet’s growing feelings for Marcus despite her loyalty to her late husband. Violet decided to give Marcus a chance and the two had sex on a rare night when none of their children were home…except maybe Benedict and Sophie on the stairs, but luckily Bridgerton House seems to be pretty big.
