Recently opened court exhibits Blake Lively sending Justin Baldoni a long voice memo in the weeks leading up to production End With Us
“Hey. I hope you’re doing so well. I just wanted to connect just to put something on your radar. Like, between us. Like, this is so premature to even share with you. All good, all good things. The headline is great, good, great,” Lively, 38, began in her voice note, which was obtained by Us Weekly.
The message sent on February 8, 2023, he continued, “But I was talking to Ryan (Reynolds) and I said, “I don’t know if I should share this,” but he said, “You have a lot of confidence, you know. Fill it up.”
In the nearly 5-minute voicemail, Lively got candid about juggling a separate film and End With Us with parenthood afterwards welcoming her fourth child with Reynolds. (The couple share daughters James, 11, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6, and son Olin, 2.)
Lively noted that she and Reynolds “don’t have a baby nurse yet,” explaining that she was overwhelmed at the thought of going back to work on back-to-back projects.
“Just the idea of going back to work every day right away and also the idea of, you know, getting ready for our movie and wanting to work out every day and all that and still be on set every day,” Lively shared. “I’m like, ‘What have I done?’ The only reason I’m doing (that movie) before is because I gave them my word and I wasn’t going to go back on it and I felt like I had to make it work. But having a week off in between is a lot. It’s a lot.”
She continued, “And the closer it gets to reality, the more I’m panicking about it. Because I’d like to just focus on our movie… Shooting in April, shooting in March is too soon after having a baby and not sleeping and wanting to be in my best shape and all that.”
Lively then pitched Baldoni an idea to adjust the production schedule, acknowledging that his request was “selfish.”
“Obviously, there are selfish reasons why I’m telling you this,” he said. “If you happen to be like, ‘Oh my God, if I could go two weeks earlier, that would be great,’ then amazing. And if it is, it is.”
She continued: “Selfishly, what I like about this is that Ryan and I have been really stressed about spending a month apart, too. None of that is your problem. That’s why I’m talking to you as a friend at this point more than anything, but the idea of spending all of June apart is a lot. The most we’ve ever done is less than two weeks.”
At the end of her voice note, Lively concluded: “I really like talking to you. Not talking to you, that’s so sad. That’s my social interaction these days, just talking on voice notes. Okay, I hope you’re okay. Send my love to your family that doesn’t know me. Take care, bye.”
A year after the voicemail was sent, news broke in 2024 that Lively sued Finish with Us co-star and director Baldoni for sexual harassment and trying to destroy his reputation. Baldoni has denied all the allegations. He filed a counterclaim, which was dismissed in 2025. The couple is scheduled to go to trial in May.
