Ben Affleck he’s not shy about stripping down in the new film The Ripstarring alongside his best friend ever, Matt Damon.
However, the 53-year-old actor isn’t taking his shirtless scene too seriously, as he defended showing his body in the film “for no reason” during an interview with “Fifi, Fev & Nick” from Fox 101.9 on Thursday, January 15.
Australian football star turned radio presenter, Brendan Fevola44, jokingly accused the actor of needlessly stealing as he asked: “Now who would win in a fight? Because Ben, when you took your top off at the start of the show for no reason… Wow, you’re broken.”
Damon, 55, burst out laughing at the comment before Affleck clapped back good-naturedly.
“There was a reason! I want people to see that. I don’t go to the gym for nothing,” he joked. “I’m middle-aged, I’m going to take all the… you know. It’s going to be gone. I want it to be remembered before it’s gone.”
Damon had another theory as to why his Goodwill Hunting The collaborator went nearly naked on screen, joking, “It’s called an actor’s vanity.”
The couple also played the shirtless scene in one interview with Entertainment tonight the same day Damon was roasting his friend again.
“He changed his shirt for a scene in this movie and boy, they tweaked the lighting for a long time in that bathroom, just shadows, he just got everything perfect for him,” Damon said.
Seeing the funny side of the scene, Affleck joked that it was a crucial plot point that added to his character’s development.
“I think it was important to see the character change,” he teased. “I think that’s what made the part dramatically interesting is that he had a dirty shirt and then he had to put on a clean one.”

Affleck went on to explain that he didn’t take cues from Damon, who also showed off his ripped body for his 2026 film. The Odysseywhen it came to dieting.
Damon previously revealed that he followed a gluten-free diet to get in shape for the film, but Affleck revealed in the E.T interview that he chose to go in a different direction to achieve his chiseled physique.
“To be honest, I can’t do the gluten-free thing. I feel like the one thing I can’t live without is bread, like rolls, you know? It might make me a caveman, but that’s really hard,” she told the network.
Although they enjoy punching each other for fun, Affleck and Damon have a strong bond thanks to their decades of friendship, which began when they were growing up together.
