Avignon Festival 2025: Arabic voices take the stage as a confronts case theater




This week at Arts24, Eve Jackson is in the studio, while our reporter Olivia Salazar-Winspear in the field at one of the world’s most modern gatherings – Avignon Festival in South France. It is now in its 79. years, the event turns heads with bold and timely focus on works in Arabic, glowing light on one of the most rural French – but still insufficiently represented – language on stage. The director of the Tiago Rodrigues festival continues its mission to open the theater into a new audience with an inclusive and international approach. This year’s program contains powerful performances Morocco to Palestine, and even the original display inspired in magnificent Palais.
