Authorities are expanding their search Savannah Guthriethe mother, Nancy Guthrieafter revealing that law enforcement is investigating new leads.
“Many of you observed an active presence at residences in Guthrie over the weekend. This activity will continue tonight and tomorrow as part of the ongoing investigative process, including expanding the search and following up on new leads,” the Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced via social media on Monday, February 9. “This is all part of the investigative process as Nancy’s search expands and new leads emerge.”
Details of the “new leads” were not released “to preserve the integrity of this criminal investigation.”
Authorities also stated that the FBI will handle “all aspects of any ransom notes or communications involving the Guthrie family.”

“The FBI is not aware of any ongoing communication between the Guthrie family and the alleged kidnappers, nor have we identified any suspects or persons of interest in this case at this time,” the statement said.

A friend of Nancy’s noticed that she was not attending the church service that Sunday and alerted one of Nancy’s sons, who checked on her at her home before contacting the police. Amid the alleged ransom notes, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared in a statement on Friday, February 6 that “the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are aware of a new message regarding Nancy Guthrie.” Nanos added that the message was being “inspected” by investigators for “its authenticity.”
Earlier Monday, Savannah, 54, shared a video ahead of the 5pm MST deadline of an alleged ransom note. The Today host thanked his fans for their prayers and asked for their help in bringing his mother home.
