For five years, millions of acres of land in Siberia have been burned. In this subarctic region, in the world’s most extensive boreal forest, is the village of Shologon. It will soon be coated with a thick cloud of smoke, which will reach the North Pole for the first time in history.
Scattered by the wind, the black ash carries the ominous news that the forest is on fire and that the flames are fast approaching. In order to save themselves, the indigenous residents must rally to fight as their homes are engulfed by flames they call “dragons”.
Control Zone: Siberia’s Wildfires is a documentary film by Alexander Abaturov.
