Amy Poehler’s Good Hang wins Best Podcast at the 2026 Golden Globes


Podcasters have officially taken the Golden Globe Awards 2026 by storm

actress Amy Poehler and his podcast “Good Hang” won first prize for best podcast during the ceremony on Sunday, January 11 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Snoop Dogg Poehler, 54, joked that the rapper presenting the award was “exactly how I imagined” the win.

“I don’t know about awards shows, but when they do it right, it makes sense. Thank you so much for that,” the actress said, offering a shout-out to her podcast producer and Spotify. “I just want to say that I know I’m new to this game, I have a lot of respect for this form. I have a lot of respect for all the people I’m nominated with. I’m a big fan of all of you, except for NPR. Just a bunch of celebrities calling it in. Try harder.”

She continued: “This is an attempt to try to make a very harsh and nasty world filled with a little more love and laughter, and laugh with people, not at them, and we have a lot of fun doing it. Thank you so much for letting us do more.”

Poehler bested five other podcasts in the category: Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert”, Alex Cooper’s “call her father” Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes i Will Arnett’s “SmartLess”, Mel Robbins “The Mel Robbins Podcast” and NPR’s “Up First.”

When going on stage, announcers Mark Malkin i Kevin Frazier Arnett, who is Poehler’s ex-husband, revealed that he predicted the former Parks and recreation the victory of the star.

In May 2025, the Golden Globes announced the new annual category of Best Podcast, with the aim of “recognizing the extraordinary and diverse talents of podcasting”.

“As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, we’re excited to recognize new forms of storytelling,” said the Golden Globes chairman. Helen Hoehne he said in a statement at the time. “Podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across global borders and generations. By celebrating successes in both audio and visual podcasts, we aim to honor our heritage categories while making room for new voices and formats to be heard.”

In October 2025, the Golden Globes revealed a list of 25 eligible podcasts for the inaugural category, which was determined by Luminate’s audio insights and analytics data.

“This year’s inaugural list of shows eligible for the new Best Podcast Eligibility List reflects the incredible depth, diversity and creativity that thrives in the world of podcasting today,” Hoehne read in a statement. “From ground-breaking investigative series to deeply personal storytelling and innovative audio formats, this list showcases the power of podcasting to inform, entertain and inspire audiences around the world. The Golden Globes are proud to be the first major entertainment award to recognize the medium.”

The 25 podcasts that made the cut were ABC News’ “20/20,” CBS News’ “48 Hours,” “Armchair Expert,” “Call Her Daddy” Candace Owens “Candace,” “Crime Junkie,” “Dateline NBC,” “Good Hang,” “Morbid,” “MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark and Mysterious Stories,” “Pardon My Take,” “Pod Save America,” “Rotten Mango,” “Shawn Ryan Show,” “SmartLess,” “The Ben Shawpi,” “The Ben Shawpi,” “The Ben Shawpi Show,” Simmons Podcast, The New York Times“The Daily,” “The Joe Rogan Experience,” “The Megyn Kelly Show,” “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” “The Tucker Carlson Show,” “This Past Weekend with Theo Von” and “Up First.”

Poehler, 54, later made headlines when she sent him support to fellow candidate and ex-husband Arnett, 55. (The couple were married from 2003 to 2016 and share sons Archie, 17, and Abel, 15.)

Arnett then laughed at Poehler’s reasoning for not including Bateman, 56, in the group’s message, reading aloud that he wrote, “I don’t have Bateman’s number, but that’s the best.”
