ancient American Idol contestant Randy Madden has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a minor.
according to TMZwho first reported the news, Madden, 45, faces six felony charges, including oral copulation of a person under 18 and unlawful intercourse. He is also accused of anal and genital penetration by a foreign object, sending harmful material, luring and dissuading a witness to report a crime.
The charges stem from at least one alleged sexual encounter that occurred between July and September of this year, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Madden was arraigned on Monday, Nov. 3 and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was arrested with the help of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office near Los Angeles.
Us Weekly Madden and police have been contacted for comment. It’s unclear if Madden has obtained an attorney.
According to online records consulted by weMadden was booked on Thursday, October 30 and was released on bail in the early hours of Tuesday, November 4. His next court date in Ventura County, California, is scheduled for November 13.
American Idol fans may remember Madden when he appeared on Season 8 of the hit singing competition in 2009.
While auditioning in Phoenix, Arizona, Madden sang “Livin’ On a Prayer” by Bon Jovi before the judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson i Kara DioGuardi.
All four judges gave Madden a “no” and he was eliminated from the competition. (Chris Allen would win the season, which also included Adam Lambert i Danny Gokey.)
