Teen with a fully developed additional set of arms and a pelvis – backed by an artery in the chest – a time operation at Aiims Hospital in Delhi.

Dr. Asuri Krishna, who leads the team of specialists, said the operation was more challenged for the patient’s age.

In this case, the teen has two fully formed legs, buttons and external genitalia – weighing about 15kg – protruding from his stomach.

Strange, parasitic arms can feel pain, touch and change temperature.

Dr Krishna says the first thing they do is recognize how to connect parasitic and host twins.

Through scans, doctors know the parasitic twin attached to the teen’s chest and granted blood from a container to his chest.

“But there is no many connections with other major organs like liver or kidney,” said Dr Krishna, adding that they also found a large cyst in the teen’s stomach.

Operation has been done in two stages – first, the parasitic twin has taken, then removes cystic mass from surrounding organs.

A group of doctors, including radiologists, anesthetists and plastic surgeons, completed the procedure for two and a half hours.

“A mesh shared blood vessels, nerves and tissues should be separated. The care must be seen to see that the host organs are damaged,” as Dr Krishna.

During operation, teen blood pressure fell into danger while 30-40% of his blood flowed into parasitic twins. But doctors say they are ready for it and quickly strengthened him.

The teen was thrown out in four days after being acquired. He is healthy and does not suffer complications from the operation, as Dr Krishna.
