A high school student in Baltimore County, Maryland was reportedly alerted and searched after an AI security system Gragged a chip from Chip as a possible firearm.
Taki Allen, a student at Kenwood High, said with a cnn injection“I’m just holding a bag of doritos – there’s two hands and one finger, and it’s like a gun.” But as a result, Allen said, “They made me kneel, put my hands behind my back, and ripped me off.”
In a statement shared with parents, the school’s principal is the Security Department of the school has examined and canceled the gun detection sign, when it was not recognized, reporting the situation to the school officer, called the Local Police.
Omnilert, the company that operates the AI gun detection system, told CNN, “We regret that this incident occurred and want to express our concern to the students and the wider community that may be affected.” However, Omnilert says “the process serves its purpose.”
