The majority of EU member states voted in favor of a significant free trade agreement with Latin American countries. The Mercosur agreement has been 25 years in the making, and its supporters are adamant that it will confirm Europe’s geostrategic position and benefit consumers. But despite the green light from the EU Council, Mercosur still faces opposition from countries like France, as well as many EU farmers. Meanwhile, the European Parliament has yet to have its final say. We are talking about an agreement with two MPs.
