Authorities in Georgia have arrested a 23-year-old father for the role they allege he played in the violent death of his newborn daughter.
Douglasville police said Geordy Josue Hernández Ventura is being held without bond after being charged with murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children stemming from the death just days before Christmas of 3-month-old Isela Hernandez.
Cops said interviews conducted as part of their investigation as well as forensic evidence showed the newborn was violently handled by his father. Police allege Ventura shook little Isela so hard she began struggling to breathe.
On December 22, 2025, Douglasville police responded to Ventura’s apartment after someone reported an unresponsive baby.
“Our officers performed CPR, but the boy later died at the hospital,” a police statement said.
According to a GoFundMe campaign launched on December 26, 2025, to cover the costs of the baby’s funeral, as well as medical expenses and therapy for the baby’s mother, “Isela was a gift from God, our miracle and our greatest love. Police in Portland, Oregon, have arrested a 38-year-old man they allege beat his newborn son to death. Arlo Darnielle-Arroyo was just 11 days old on May 4 when he was rushed to an area hospital. This is the second arrest this week in Georgia involving a man who allegedly killed an infant.
Willie George Northern Jr.of Kathleen, has been charged with murder, child cruelty and tampering with evidence for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s 6-month-old child, Myles Walker. Deputies received a call about an “infant not breathing” at a home in Macon on the evening of Sunday, Jan. 4, where they spoke with 24-year-old Northern. Deputies learned he was the one who called 911.

Northern told the deputyHe said he “was watching his girlfriend’s newborn son” and “fed, swaddled and then put the baby to rest,” authorities said. Northern said she put the baby on an air mattress and showered. After the shower, Northern allegedly “observed Myles lying face down on the bedding.”
Myles died days later after suffering multiple brain bleeds and a broken collarbone.
