Chua Lam, a famous food critic and the Chinese language culture icon, died, according to his official social media account. He is 83.
Hong Kong-base, born Lam died in Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital with family and friends beside her, a post on his Weibo account Friday.
“As he wanted, so that relatives and friends could not interfere, there was no ceremony and his body was mined,” it said, that did not express the cause of his death.
Hong Kong’s “four greatest talents”, Lam was a more writer and a famous food host and traveling shows.
He was the first member of the four cultural icons, which also included Cantopop Lyricist James Wong Jim and novel Jin Yong and Kuang.
Chua has settled in Hong Kong in 1960, where he made films – including some of the action star Star Jackie Chan.
As a producer, he needs to travel to the world to scout for film locations, and later invited to write a column in a local post in Stephina in 2016.
“So I wrote about foods and restaurants, and I finally saw me as a food critic,” he said.
In the television’s writings and appearances throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Chua soon became a most authoritative voices in Chinese cuuisine.
In 2012, he served as one of the Consultants in a Chinese bite, a documentary series introducing various Chinese dishes.
Most of Chua withdrawal from the public view since he has fallen and broken his pelvic bone in 2023. He was injured while hurting his wife, who had fallen home. He died after year.
