Steven van Zandt Will miss several dates of concerts with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band after having to undergo emergency surgery for appendicitis.

Van Zandt apparently became ill after the band on Saturday, June 21, was in San Sebastián, Spain and received treatment there. The group is scheduled to play again in the city on Tuesday, June 24.
“He was lucky with an exceptional hospital in San Sebastian,” Van Zandt wrote Monday. “The operation was a complete success and I hope to go back to the stage at least one of the shows in Milan. Thanks to all for all good vibrations. See you soon.”

Van Zandt has been a guitarist on the Springsteen Band and since 1975. His most recent mandate began in 1999.
