After the oral attacks of Voladymy Zelenskyy by Donald Trump and his Vice-Present JD Vicect, Ukraine is facing danger. The obvious risk is that Trump works with Vladimir Putin to force a remote Ukraine to receive a vact Russian victory.
That risk still remains. But some of the most mellow ministers of Britain, Sir Keir Starmer, who works well with Emmanuel Macron in France, hit the worst today. At a meeting in London, Zelenskyy was warmed by political leaders in Europe and later met with King Charles – who did not know that the Ukrainian leader did not wear suit. The message is clear. Zelenskyy and Ukraine are not alone.
Even more important, Starmmer and Macron can be temporarily disturbing the diplomatic initiatives from Trump and Putin. By announcing that European countries will work with Ukraine in a peace suggestion – then present in the US – they have made peace of America and Russia alone.
Instead of slowing European and Ukraine slowly on the table, Starmer and Macron need important steps to make sure that happen. The French also push for a temporary stop-stop, which undermines they work for peace.
But any excitement about these improvements should be more qualified. It is even possible that peace initiatives will build. There is no real sign that Russia is ready to stop fighting.
