Donald Trump said he worked in a UK trade agreement and suggested that Britain escapes the torques when allies agree to US security for Ukraine.
During a warm joint press conference on the White House on Thursday, the US president said his UK Citypart Sir Seir Starmer “worked hard not to impose the tariffs of Britain.
“I told you he got any hell that they would pay there, but he tried,” said Trumper, who described him as a “very difficult negotiator”. “We are very good to end with a true trading agreement where tariffs are not necessary. We see.”
Trump’s suggestion that the UK will avoid tariffs that come in a day after he threatened the EU hours of exports to Mexico and Canada and extend his planned Levy in China.
Trump says the UK is a “very different place” from the EU.
Starmmer confirmed that the UK and the US last Thursday decided to “begin to work with a new economic agreement with advanced technologies”.
British officials say both sides seek for a phased economic and tech agreement withholding a perfect deal with trade.
