A shooting in Flint, Michigan, has claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and her unborn child, who spent two days in the hospital fighting for his life, police said. Us Weekly.
Ashley Williams34, was killed when gunfire erupted on the evening of Tuesday, February 10, in the south part of the city.
Williams was 36 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
She was taken by ambulance to Hurley Medical Center, where medical personnel were able to successfully deliver her son, Isaiah, alive.
Isaiah died on Thursday, February 12.
The boy had been on life support in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hurley Children’s Hospital. according to a GoFundMe campaign launched in the wake of the tragic shooting.

“2 days will never be long enough,” reads an account update posted early Thursday. “We are heartbroken…Isaiah fought a good fight, but God decided for him to rest in peace with his mother.”
The GoFundMe page is seeking financial assistance for the burials of Williams and her baby.
Kathy WilliamsAshley’s mother, spoke to MLiveand said she was contacted by the hospital around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. “Her little lungs weren’t developed enough,” she told the site. “Hurley worked with him for a long time. He’s crashed. I’m glad Ashley let me borrow him for a couple of days and get to know him. Now he’s in mommy’s arms.”
Kathy said she is anxious to see the “monster” behind the shooting captured.

“The suddenness of this tragedy has left us with many unexpected expenses, and we are doing everything we can to make sure Ashley is laid to rest with dignity,” the fundraiser added. “The only thing we were hoping for was time — more time with Ashley, more time to prepare for Isaiah’s arrival. Unfortunately, that time was taken away from us, and now we’re reaching out to our community for help.”

So far, the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $1,500 of its $50,000 goal.
Police continue to investigate the shooting. As of press time, police had not made any arrests and had not offered any descriptions of possible suspects.
Investigators do not know how many people were involved in the shooting, which happened just before 6 p.m., but said no one else was killed.
