Nancy Guthrie‘s neighbor is speaking out after the FBI released surveillance footage of a possible subject in the middle of the search Savannah Guthriethe mother of
“It was amazing and a little scary,” Laura GarganoWHO he has lived around the corner of Nancy, 84, for more than a decade, she said CNN on Wednesday February 11. “But I immediately went to assess this person’s physique. I (looked at) the shape of the head, the size of the legs and the approximate weight to see if it looked familiar.”
Gargano quickly gathered other people in the area to see if they could recognize the person later the footage was released. “I just assumed it was a man and immediately started getting to know the people I’ve worked with here,” she said. “Many times people share service people in the area.”
He continued: “I immediately looked to see if the shape looked familiar. I did this more than fear, but also hopeful because now we have an image to go by. I took away a little hope for now.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Gargano revealed that he suggested Nancy’s roof and septic tank as possible locations. where there might be evidence left behind, prompting the FBI to launch a search.
Nancy has been missing from the Arizona area since February 1st. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained exclusively Us Weekly Earlier this month, evidence at Nancy’s home looked suspicious.

“Something unusual happened in that house that made us say, ‘Wow, something’s wrong here.’ Something doesn’t add up,” he explained. “We’re going to pull out all the stops and go from every angle. We really hope it’s a search and rescue mission and we find her safe and sound. But it would be unfair if we didn’t look at what’s in front of us and say, ‘We have to act.'”
Since then, Savannah, 54, and her siblings have taken to social media several times to appeal to the person who potentially took Nancy from her home.
“We got your message and we understand,” Savannah said in a Feb. 7 video after reports of ransom notes being sent to local news stations. “We are asking you now to give us back our mother so we can celebrate with her. Only then will we have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay for it.”
A deadline of 5pm MST on Monday February 9th was reportedly set. Hours earlier, Savannah shared her belief that Nancy was “still out there,” adding in another Instagram video: “We’re in a desperate hour.”
Days later, TMZ he claimed it was a new note received demanding 1 Bitcoin for information on Nancy’s possible captor.
Director of the FBI Kash PatelIn the meantime, she hopes the release of photos and videos of the masked individual outside Nancy’s home will help the investigation.
“(We went) into their systems and dug up material that people would think would normally be deleted and that no one would look for,” he shared with Fox News on Tuesday, February 10. “And basically, without going into too much detail, this is how the FBI worked with our private sector partners to pull out material that people thought didn’t even exist because of the specific service of this type of subscription. We were able to pull it out, fine-tune it with our technical capabilities at the FBI, and release it to the world.”
A man named Carlos Palazuelos was arrested during a traffic stop after the images were released and questioned by police. He has since denied any involvement in Nancy’s disappearance.
